Let’s get Real
We can’t avoid that inevitable change that our kids go through, as they transition from dependent little people that need our support, to independent young adults that start to learn more from each other. It’s a double-edged sword – we want them to grow up (but not too quickly), and also know that we can’t teach them every lesson that there is to learn. There comes a point where we understand that our role becomes more supportive than instructive, and that their peers start to have more influence than we do. And that is the way it should be.
The Teen Squad Classes are designed to allow their development to leverage more off each other, than from their elders. More responsibility, more interactions, more engagement, more strenuous exercise and challenging sequences, more organisation, more involvement in how they train. These are things that they will be introduced to, along with the responsibility of starting to teach younger classes, as well as their peer group. It is one thing being a student and doing what you’re told, sometimes playing the fool and not putting in the effort that is expected; it is entirely different when it comes to teaching. All the lessons that you think you know as a student start making more sense when you’re facing the crowd, as opposed to being one of the faces in the crowd.
A great class where the sole purpose is growth; physically…sure, but the emphasis is more on the emotional and personal development where courage and humility is encouraged over natural physical ability.
