Capoeira is great martial art for children to develop their bodies and minds in a fun a soothing way. The benefits of capoeira for kids goes way past just physical activity. Capoeira for kids, not only teaches self defence, improves balance, coordination, reflexes, spacial awareness and flexibility and fitness but it also improves self esteem, confidence and an ability to overcome fear and personal challenges. To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you as a Practitioner from Dore. Dore is a regulated exercise-based programme designed to stimulate and develop the brain with the goal of remediating and removing the symptoms associated with learning difficulties such as AD/HD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. I would like to share with you the benefits of Capoeira.

Capoeira is a martial art that offers a variety of benefits to body and mind. As a Dore Programme Practitioner and member of a Capoeira School, I have experienced, first hand, the benefits of this form of physical and mental training. Movements in Capoeira encourage midline crossing, multi-tasking in terms of coordinating physical movements along with speech mechanisms (singing) and sensory integration. The acrobatic movements provide vestibular and cerebellar stimulation which are beneficial in combating concentration concerns as well as other learning difficulty symptoms. Long term and short term memory are regularly used and accessed to retain sequences and new movements learnt over a period of time. The school has, in the past, had letters from parents describing the improvements in school work and the reduction in learning difficulty symptoms associated with Dyslexia.

As with many martial arts, Capoeira offers self-defense, but in a class environment you are taught to evade contact and express yourself in a more acrobatic way. This form of Martial art is serious, yet fun, stimulating and has something unique to offer each participant. If you wish to discuss this further please contact me on the details below.
